Let's not mince words here -- Minneapolitans who want to dance have only four real choices. And Ground Zero is by far the coolest. Located in the rapidly gentrifying, but still pretty trashy area of Northeast Minneapolis, GZ cultivates the fun-but-nasty feel of a permanent rave. Minneapolis' finest spin-meisters ensure wicked beats are in plentiful supply, and hedonistic theme nights endeavor to bring out the animal tendencies of even the most sedate Midwesterner. The camp-sassy attitudes spilling out from Saturday's Sin City and Thursday's European Express are a particular treat. If you are burdened with not-so-dance-happy friends, The Front, a far more mellow retro bar is attached to GZ, aptly enough, in front. -- Guy Branum

new mgmt.?
By geomajik on 01/21/2005
when this club 1st opened, it was the hottest, and probably the most unique club to ever open its doors in the twin cities . maybe in the whole country.there were fun rides in every corner of the club.hedonism, reigned supreme.the dance floor was always crowded and on ocasion even the local patrol officers would stop in to people watch and enjoy the sights.now though ,the place is just sad.theres no edge to it at all.i don`t know if they changed mgmt. or what, but i do know that if they are going to keep calling themselves the most unique club in the cities . they need to reacess their values.or we the patrons need to reacess ours.

miss you

after moving to florida, I find that I have a much deeper appreciation of what was available in Mpls. How I wish I was there again on any night to just watch the others having a good time. there is nothing within 75 miles of where I am now. But I am moving back within a year to be at GZ again. Oh how I miss thee.
