Dance beneath the stars at this popular and sophisticated Latin-influenced nightclub. The Sky Lounge is where the ultra-hip come to show off their sizzling dance steps, whether the beat is salsa, merengue, 'Ritmo Latino' or two-step garage. The managers say they try to create a 'Miami dance scene' every night at the club. The music is delivered loud and lively via regular local DJs and by live bands. Come ready to sweat, most weekends it's wall-to-wall humanity and minding your own business is strictly and un-hiply prohibited. -- Julie Amparano Garcia

aggressive people, the bartender take the tips by himself, the lady in the ticket boot she doesn't even smile, the small town wannabe gangster crown have a stupid attitude, specially if you are white, any way is not a great place to take you out of the town friends... Good music, bad business
By latertucson on 04/13/2007
I just had a great night of dancing and socializing with friends at Sky Lounge this evening. They have good music, a decent atmosphere, and while the crowd left a bit to be desired, I was with friends so that didn't matter much. The pat-down at the door, however, should have been my first indication that this is no high-class establishment. The real trouble came when I closed out my tab. I received a bill of $34 for 2 drinks. The first drink came to $7, which was a premium vodka & tonic. That's about par for the area. The second drink, which was a well vodka & tonic, apparently came to $27, which seems a bit off, don't you think? After waiting about 5-10 minutes before I could finally get the bartender's attention again, I explained that I had bought 2 drinks and something was wrong with the bill. He spoke to someone else behind the bar, gave me $18 in cash and said to sign it - it was the same as taking off the other mystery drinks that appeared on my tab. Ummmm, not so much, buddy. I don't see how a well vodka & tonic (at $9 now if you're counting) could still be more than my premium vodka & tonic. I was still mad, but needed to go and reluctantly tipped the bartender, albeit modestly, $2 for the service. I'm sorry, but if you're unable to keep track of your customer's tabs, and not add other patrons' drinks to my tab, then you don't deserve my business - especially if you're not willing to make it right. So, there you have it. Good music, but poor customer service. I'm tempted to give my credit card company a call, but I'll probably just rest easier knowing whomever reads this will have been forewarned: Don't go to Sky Lounge. However, if you must, bring cash and don't open a tab. There are far better places to go in and around Phoenix that are fun and will treat you right. There are my 2 cents. Cheers.
