If your belly bellows for a big hunk of steak, Del Frisco's will cut it on site as big as you want it -- as long as you pay by the ounce. In fact, regular cuts, from the 24-ounce porterhouse to the 26-ounce strip, aren't cut from the loin until your order enters the kitchen. Dark wood and rich colors cover the eight dining rooms, but don't confuse quality with ritz. If the various camps making up the Dallas old-money crowd were to be categorized based on footwear preference, The Mansion on Turtle Creek could be said to maintain its sphere of influence among those clad in Gucci loafers, whereas Del Frisco's acts as the stomping grounds for those who do most of their stomping in cowboy boots (albeit nice cowboy boots). This is not to say that the menu is entirely dominated by orthodox Texan fare; even though the main draw has always been aged, high-quality USDA peppercorn steak, the restaurant also does a brisk business in decidedly non-Western fare such as Chateu potatoes. In fact, Del Frisco's side items tend to draw as much praise as the entrees themselves, from the asparagus to salads dowsed in avocado dressing. Desserts win similar levels of acclaim from those diners who demand excellence from each and every course, with the restaurant's admirable take on strawberry Romanoff usually winning out over the cheesecake and chocolate mousse.

Just OK in My Opinion
By Houndog851 on 07/25/2008
Yes I have been there a few times and I feel it is just an OK Steak House. I do agree with most of the others on this list, but I would replace this establishment with RICK'S STEAK HOUSE!!!

Used To Be A Waiter At del's
By DallasTrek on 07/10/2008
del's is hit or miss at times. When I worked there five years ago, heard all the comments on this board. I also ate their after leaving employment: Was a below average experience. Food was over cooked, sides were cold and service was slow. Complained about it....was a $250 dinner check for two...got an apology, that was it..and I used to work there! I think del's has seen its better days.
