Charleston takes its name from the South Carolina seaport city where hearty, flavorful dishes utilize what's readily available -- lots of seafood and rice with African and Caribbean influences. The menu changes seasonally to take advantage of the freshest ingredients, but two prix fixe meals are offered nightly. If your heart is set on a la carte, Charleston is more than willing to oblige with tasty regional treats. Sample crispy cornmeal oysters with lemon-cayenne mayonnaise or heads-on gulf shrimp served with andouille sausage, tasso ham and creamy grits. Soups are delightful and salads are bountiful, but don't overindulge before the main course. Beef, chicken, pasta, seafood and wild game dishes are stirring forays into the low country. Between courses, partake of a Charleston specialty -- artisan cheeses are served tableside to cleanse the palate and whet the appetite! -- Pete Kerzel

Good for Baltimore, I guess
By lttljeanie1 on 12/14/2007
This is probably the best resturant in Baltimore I've been to, but that's not saying much. Our server gave us the wrong meal 3 times (out of five). The food was good, but a couple courses weren't great, and I expected them to be. Overall, we thought it was good, but not really worth the price. Unfortunately Baltimore is in dire need of better places to eat.

Best in Town

If there's a better restaurant in Baltimore, I not sure where it is; and I've been to Tio's and all of Little Italy over the years. Saturday night, family occasion dinner, party of 10 aged 25 to 75. Perfect meal, perfect service, perfect atmosphere. Cornbread fried oysters to die for. Great attention to detail with everything. Hope to return soon.
